CalOHII Policy Memorandum Released

CalOHII has released the attached Policy Memorandum to inform departments that a new HIPAA standard transaction has been adopted for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) via an Interim Final Rule (IFR) by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  HHS is accepting comments regarding the adopted EFT standard.  HHS is adding a standard for EFT as required by the Patient Protection and Accountable Care Act (PPACA).  This IFR has a January 1, 2014 compliance date.

HIPAA impacted departments should review this IFR and provided comments to CalOHII by March 2, 2012.  CalOHII will assemble the comments and submit them to HHS by the due date.  Please send your comments and/or questions to Alan.Roush@OHI.CA.Gov.

HITECH Impact to Privacy & Security Regulations
